DANNER - TRADITIONAL
The purpose of that quick sketchy digital painting of DANNER a few posts down was used for this...a final acrylic on canvas (no digital retouching). Right now it's resting comfortably in the halls of 6PH studios in Hollyhood.
i would have posted the original drawing but it's on a loose leaf at home. It measures the length Mini Me's pinky finger. So, after i transfered that onto the canvas I pretty much did a full value wash in straight Alizarin and water. Then, washed over it with an orange-ish color cuz i knew the BG was gonna be blue. After that worked in some darks, mids and lights. For the finish just tried to make good halftones, correct anything that wasn't right, and make sure my tiling wasn't too abrupt. If it's one thing i could take from this painting it's to never lose your drawing. I guess all those tonal approaches I had been taking towards my figure drawings actually meant something. When you're painting without reference, that's pretty much all you have to fall back on.
