BLACK FROM YALE: THE AFTERMATH
To recap my last post (even though right below this one), I was invited to be a guest lecturer at Yale University for the 13th Annual Black Solidarity Conference on a panel called Politics Press and Propoganda.
Before I left...
I wanted to reflect on a few things in my usual fashion...
(I usually keep the blinds closed until Sunset, but, Sunshine provided for a better ambiance - yeah right?)
so anyway, I left Friday morning, flew all day, and night, and arrived here...
...to do my thing on Saturday at the 11:30-1:30 pm panel.
I spoke to a little over 100 people in classroom and basically gave them my idealogy behind the infamous "READ A BOOK" video I directed for B.E.T. last summer.
I opened with some history about the early origins of the song (from Hotghettomess.com), to how it arrived at B.E.T, to how I met Denys Cowan when he was a producer on "The Boondocks", and to how that same relationship paid dividends 2 years later when Denys Cowan and Reginald Hudlin started anew at B.E.T. respectively with Cowan as Vice President of Animation and Hudlin as President of Entertainment. In steps Tyree Dillihay to direct "READ A BOOK" and the nation throws a shit fit.
CNN appearance, couple of newspaper articles, radio, interviews, yada-yada-yada...all to say WHAT?
Basically...i just wanted to say "WAKE UP!!" Just like Slice in School Daze.
So, now that I've got your attention...and the fresh young minds at the Yale Conference...I whooped out my my fresh new film on 'em...
DIFFERENCES
(Directed and Narrated by me/Produced by Six Point Harness/Voices by Jaeden Ball)
After the resounding "awwwwwwwwwww" from the crowd...nothing left to do than to watch my people do the ELECTRIC SLIDE!!
Later that night, the treat of all treats. Who graced the staged but none other than Lupe Fiascoe to rock Yale. At the end, an even more special treat...sorry for the photos...but, that's Lupe in the center with Matthew Santos on his right rockin SUPERSTAR. "Have no feeeeeaaaaaar"
after that, you know that frats and sorros had to battle it out:
Then, it was back to L.A. and back on the grind.
Art to come soon.
