GF

One baked night at Six Point Harness, I couldn't help but draw this weird, twisted, mary jane induced picture of Animation General, Greg Franklin...not to mention some weird fairy thing that I have no idea idea whatsoever why and where that came from. It's actually my second Greg drawing...the first is here.

But, forget drawing, I was getting a paint jones at the time and happen to have a canvas laying around...so with a firm grasp of my loins and paintbrushes (each is an extension of the other, btw :), I dove in and did this:

Acrylic on Canvas 24 x 36 (?). April or May '07 sometime around there, maybe? Painted in a day. sorry for the crappy photo...glair and all.

Anywho, this is the piece that inspired the DANNER piece a couple of posts ago. I actually was going to do a whole series called "CO-WORKERS" and have a gallery showing at the studio. The other thumbs and drawings are baking...but, that damn forsaken thing called drawing for wages always seems to get in the way of drawing and painting for ME.

If anybody wants to see process pics...lemmeknow and I'll post.

  3. oasis - thanks! how come there's no link to your blog??

stephen - no more odd than any other artist...especially at Six Point. Prolly won't be selling this. Right now, it's a permanent fixture hanging in the halls over at 6PH right across from the DANNER painting.

If you or anybody else wants to view 'em in person, lemmeknow, and I'll schedule you...gallery visitation is private and only for esteemed candidates of course. pfffffffffft! lol.

  4. Wow this is great - wonderful lighting in the pic - even if it was an accident. Great exaggeration. Definitely reminds me of Bua's stuff.

Sorry I haven't sent you back a worthy email. Been busy as hell these days but I promise I'll get back

  13. That is such an awesome painting. On breaks loitering around 6PH I would stand against the wall and stare at it and just get lost in the colors and distortion. Occasionally someone would catch me and say "yeah, that thing's really creepy huh?" But I'd say, "man, this thing is so cool!"

(And man, I know what you're talking about "baked nights at 6PH." Not ONE day went by when that smoke didn't come wafting in come quitting time!)
