DISRESPECTOIDS

SUP FOLKS,

Sooooooooo...what else does Tyree do besides SN'EADS?
Well...here's some stuff that I did last year for KRAFT/CAPRISUN & advertising agency OLGIVY & MATHER for the hugely successful Caprisun campaign for DISRPESPECTOIDS.
For those not familiar with kids television or commercials aimed at kids for that matter, the DISRESPECTOIDS are a result of what happens when someone, in most cases a KID "disrespects" the pouch.

Here's a live action commercial example of how the Disrespectoid, SANDY MANDY came to be:

With that said, CAPRISUN & OLGIVY & MATHER made a hugely successful ad campaign that featured about 10 characters last year and that list is currently growing.
I was put to the task of creating cartoons based around these 10 characters but with little to no backstory. In essence, I & my co-writer, DAN CLARK, were given free creative reign to COME UP WITH something.
Here's a pick as to how we did it:
THE OLD FASHION WAY.
We sat in a room and played a lil game called "WHAT IF?"...
put it up on dry erase boards and VISUALLY WROTE THE CARTOONS.
We did this 10 times for 10 shorts.

And here's hardcore DATA below...ENJOY...

Eggs a la Chuck

Back To Back Madness

Shell Sweet Shell

Shellhouse Rock

D'oid to D'oid Combat

Luna's Dangerous Liason

Mr. Peeps has Got to Go

When Harry Met Chewie

Just Add Louie

She Who Smelt It

Funny piece of information of this last cartoon, "SHE WHO SMELT IT..."
I wanted Whoopie to do something at the end with her fart extremities.
Me being the hip hop fan that I am was scrounging around youtube at the time and happen to come across some guys who were competing on BEATBOX BATTLE TV.
Everybody was dope, NO QUESTION, but one cat, DHARNI from Singapore caught my attention.

At 2:11, DHARNI intros his BEATBOX set with the ILLEST sound!!!!
AT THAT MOMENT...NO...AT THAT SECOND...I KNEW...THAT THIS DUDE WAS GOING TO BE THE SOUND OF WHOOPIE...

So...long story short...I had the producer on the project, Nancy Evelyn, contact Dharni, they made arrangements, and I was able to interject some REAL HIP HOP into a major campaign and everybody signed off WITH NO QUESTION.

With that said, I know writing cartoons in the longer format is a little harder to write in this old school method...but, trust me...if you get the right people in the room...IT'S WORTH IT.

Also wanna give a shout out to my man, LAYRON DEJARNETTE who laid out, animated, and designed LUNA'S DANGEROUS LIASON by himself! The man is a BEAST. Check him out here.

PEACE
